Sonia Paniagua is a San Francisco based hairstylist and Goldwell Educator proudly working out of the beautiful J. Roland Salon in Union Square. Known for her refined eye and signature Seamless Blending foil technique, Sonia specializes in radiant blondes, dimensional brunettes, and precision haircuts tailored to enhance each client’s natural beauty.
Her apprentice career began in Southern California, where she trained under celebrity stylist Chris McMillan in Beverly Hills, followed by advanced education at the Vidal Sassoon Academy, where she mastered the art of structure, clean lines, and timeless technique.
Sonia developed her Seamless Blending foil technique after training under celebrity colorist, where she learned the nuances of dimension, tone, and strategic placement. Through years of experience behind the chair, she noticed that traditional highlighting often left clients with harsh grow out lines or flat tones. This inspired her to create her own approach focused on fluid transitions, soft contrast, and grow out friendly brightness. Today, Seamless Blending is not only her signature it’s a sought after method clients and stylists alike recognize her for.
Now a Goldwell Master Colorist and Goldwell Educator, Sonia is passionate about mentoring other stylists and sharing the techniques she’s refined through years of hands on work. Whether she’s teaching or creating behind the chair, she brings a deep respect for artistry, craft, and connection to the salon.
Outside the salon, Sonia leads a balanced life rooted in faith, fitness, and family. She finds serenity in the simple, unconditional love for her two spaniels, Hunter and Joy, and values the quiet strength of her beloved partner, whose support fuels her growth. She deeply values the importance of service, showing up with presence, integrity, and care in every part of her life. Sonia also believes in surrounding herself with like minded creatives in the hairdressing community those who share her passion for self expression, continuous learning, and the artistry of transformation.
